Earth to Table: The Farm Wedding | What To Do With Your Wedding Photos
Today I’m sharing a little roundup list of what to do with your wedding photo collection, featuring wedding photos from a late August wedding at Earth to Table: The Farm in Millgrove! Sarah and Riley have kindly shared some photos of how they’ve incorporated their engagement and wedding photos around their home so far. Plenty of frames and loose prints of their favourite wedding moments! You can even spot some of these framed engagement photos in the background of Sarah’s getting ready photos. Don’t forget to scroll all the way through to check our their sweet vendor team, plus you can see the list of incredible DIYs that Sarah pulled off!

Without further adieu, read on to learn what I recommend to do with your wedding photos!

1. Have a Viewing Party!
2. Choose Your Favourites

After you’ve looked through your whole gallery, go through the collection and select your absolute favourites. These are the ones that you might show people when they ask to see some wedding photos, or ones you know you’ll be printing later, or saving as your phone lock screen, etc. It really helps to have a smaller collection like this handy!

The gallery that I deliver to my clients has a super simple ‘favourites’ list feature that you can add and remove photos from, make multiple lists for different purposes (one for your album selections, one for photos you want to share on social media, photos you plan to print, etc). If you share the gallery with your family, wedding party or guests, they can also make their own lists!

3. Download and Backup

Nothing stresses wedding photographers out more than seeing no downloads in your online gallery. I offer full download capabilities in my wedding galleries, with no watermark or limits on the size (you get it all, baby!) But- did you know that once you receive your online gallery, you are responsible for making sure that these digital memories are backed up and taken care of? Wedding photographers cannot guarantee that they’ll have access to these files forever, so it’s best to take your investment into your own hands.

Make sure you download the entire collection in the highest resolution you can, and save it in a few different spots. I recommend a cloud based storage service, like Google Drive, iCloud, Dropbox, etc! There are SO many options available, and most of them offer free subscriptions for smaller storage limits. I have my most important folders saved over a few different services, and it doesn’t hurt for your spouse to also back it up somewhere too! You can even ask your MOH/Best Man to pop a copy of it onto their drive as well.

If you received a USB with your images on it, that is a great spot to store images as a backup as well. But keep in mind that USB technology is already on it’s way out the door, and will soon be joining DVDs, CDs and floppy disks in tech heaven. So many devices no longer support USB drives so I wouldn’t recommend relying on this long term.

4. Print Your Photos

You had the perfect day, you hired a killer photographer- and now your images are sitting on a computer or in the cloud. Don’t let them go to waste and only see the light on day once a year when you post your anniversary on Instagram! Print those babies up!

Small prints like 4x6s and 5x7s can be popped into table top frames, stuck on the fridge, or tucked into mirror frames. This size is also great for sharing with your families and wedding party too! 8x10s and 11x14s can fill a small wall. I usually put these in those spaces between doorways and along hallway walls where you just need something small. They also look great leaning on a shelf, or as a part of a collection of frames on a wall. Larger than that needs a good frame and a big space- pick an epic photo for this. I usually like ones that are a bit of a wider shot, that show a bit more scenery.

5. Make an Album

Your last step is to order an album! I love to produce high quality, long lasting archival albums for my couples that look and feel amazing. The albums I offer my couples are locally sourced and handmade. This is the perfect way to have a ‘highlight reel’ to look at over the years, without having to pull up your gallery or saved folder on a device. Your future children and grandchildren will love looking through this!

If my couples prefer to go the DIY route with a more economical option, that is certainly available to them! I’m happy as long as these memories are printed somewhere and enjoyed off-screen, even if it isn’t ordered directly through me! There are many options for consumer albums, where you can design and order online and have shipped to you.

Whichever album route you take, I do recommend trying to complete this within one year of your wedding! After that, the project will really hang over your head and it’ll be on your to-do list forever. I find that this project really gets put on the back burner after you move homes, get a puppy, have a baby, etc! You are more likely to complete this while your wedding and newlywed excitement hasn’t worn off yet.

Simple and Elegant Barrie Country Club Wedding

Emily and Matthew hosted the most elegant wedding last summer at the Barrie Country Club. From the moment I met them at our initial consultation, I KNEW this one would be a true highlight of my 2019 wedding season. Both Emily and Matthew have the kindest, most gentle souls and I was excited to spend the day photographing their love as well as meeting their inner circle. People with dispositions like theirs always seem to come from incredible families and friend groups, and my hunch was right! A huge bridal party moved effortlessly with us throughout the day, even when Mother Nature had us running in and out with her cheeky mix of gorgeous sunshine with spots of rain.

Their wedding day was made even more special, when a few months beforehand they found out they were expecting their first child together! With a quick switch of Emily’s dress and some arrangements for mimosas (without the bubbly) were made, their little bump was present for this huge milestone. They have since welcomed a beautiful baby boy into the world and I’ve loved watching their little growing family over the past few months!

I’ve also included some photos of their printed album! I barely ever share photos of these outside of Instagram, so here we are! I absolutely love these printed albums as a way to really enjoy your wedding day memories. It’s so important to me that my couples don’t store their wedding images on a hard-drive forever, and love when they hang them on their walls and keep them within reach in these gorgeous printed albums!

Honsberger Estate Wedding | Top Six Wedding Planning Tips for Newly Engaged Couples

Devin & Stuart celebrated their big day at Honsberger Estate Winery in Jordan, Ontario and it was their DREAM venue. They told me that as soon as they saw it, they knew it was the one. Devin and Stu planned a gorgeous wedding with blush pink, mauve, and gold accents. They incorporated some natural textures, which overall gave off a very simple, sophisticated and rustic vibe to the day. They had three different music vendors on board (strings, live acoustic, and a DJ!) and they really paid attention to the tiniest of details. Since the holidays are just around the corner, that means it’s engagement season folks! Because plenty of couples will soon be in the early stages of planning, I’ve asked Devin to share her top tips for newly engaged couples, so read on!

Top Six Wedding Planning Tips for Newly Engaged Couples

1. Picking the Venue
The first few days of engagement are exciting and full of celebration. Then, after a week or so, the reality sets in that if you want an engagement that is less than 2 years, you will need to start looking for a venue ASAP. Thinking back to this time, it was one of the most stressful parts about wedding planning – unless you are a couple that has decided on a venue before getting engaged. Personally, we saved all our wedding planning discussions until we were engaged. To start, we made a list of what was important to us. In our case, these were food, music, and some element of nature. Although it was exhausting to visit different venues almost every night for about 2 weeks, the moment we stepped onto the property that we eventually booked, we knew it was the one. Have patience and don’t settle for a venue that isn’t what exactly what you want.

2. Get Advice From Your Vendors
Photographers, florists, musicians, venue coordinators – they have all done this many times! If you are unsure of your itinerary, placement of flowers, when to do your first dance (the list goes on…), just ask the people you have hired to be part of your big day. Most vendors have been a part of various weddings and can give you feedback that will help shape some of your decisions.

3. Creating Ambience
Once you get into wedding planning, you will quickly realize how easy it is to spend a lot of money on flowers. Flowers make the venue personal and beautiful. That being said, be strategic about the flowers you order. If you have a ceremony space that is separate from your reception, make sure that you can re-use all the ceremony flowers in the reception area – especially since the ceremony is usually only 30 minutes. Have a plan with your florist or wedding coordinator on where you want your flowers relocated for cocktails and the reception. If you have a lot and/or large tables, a great way to save money is to have a garland or greenery on the tables instead of floral arrangements. If you decide on garlands, I highly suggest filling the tables with different sizes of candles. Candles give a nice warmth to the room and are beautiful as the sun goes down! Tip: Rent large pillar candles from your florist or decorator. Smaller votive candles can be purchased for a good price from the dollar store and can always be re-used.

4. Plan Ahead
Slowly start working away on wedding details (like venue signage, seating plan drafts, etc.) as soon as possible. Your wedding day will creep up faster than you think and many of the small details take longer than you might expect – especially seating plan! Write your vows, thank you cards to wedding party /parents, and thank you speech at least a month before the wedding. The four weeks before your wedding you will be paying the balance on your vendors and finalizing last minute details. You most likely won’t have the patience or headspace to write something from the heart.

5. Sleep
Try to relax (as much as possible) the days leading up to the wedding. Minimize intense exercise and socializing. Avoid anything that will burn you out. The entire day feels like running a half marathon, so you need all the energy you can get. Most importantly try and get some sleep the night before your big day. Personally, I could not sleep and it made it very tough to stay lively near the end of the night.

6. Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff
This includes details leading up to your wedding, as well as on the actual day of the wedding. You may have multiple opinions from your family and friends throughout the planning process. Pick your battles. You want the day to be perfect, but there are certain elements that are less significant. On the day of the wedding, if decorations aren’t in the exact spot you mapped out or if the itinerary changes slightly, don’t stress. Your guests have no idea what you have planned. Lastly, take multiple moments throughout the day to absorb and appreciate what is going on around you – even if this means stepping away from your guests for a few minutes to breathe!

7. Bonus tip from Jenn!
I wanted to add in another tip, one that really came in handy on Devin and Stuart’s wedding day. Since they opted to not see each other before the ceremony, I knew that afterwards would be a busy time filled with family portraits, wedding party photos, and portraits of the two if then. Knowing this, I recommended to Devin that we try to wrap up hair and makeup about 2 hours before we had to leave their getting ready location, so that I could do ALL of her bridesmaids photos before heading to the ceremony. It meant we had time to get solo portraits of Devin, all the shots of her and her gals, and all the individual ‘bride with each bridesmaid’ photos. I was also able to capture her with her parents, meaning we had a few less family combinations to do post-ceremony. It also means you’ll have more time with your wedding party to pop some champagne! We did the same thing with my second photographer Allison at Stuart’s getting ready spot. All groomsmen photos were done pre-ceremony, and it saved us SO much time afterwards.

Tralee Wedding Facility, Caledon: Ashleigh + Marc

This was my first time photographing a wedding at Tralee Wedding Facility, and I immediately fell in love with their huge property. Full of open fields, a big willow tree overlooking the ceremony spot, and a beautifully simple dining and dancing area.

Ashleigh and Marc did their ‘big day’ a little differently- they actually eloped in Greece first, and then one month later renewed their vows in front of their closest 20 friends and family. Dressed in the most swoon worthy Hayley Paige gown, Ashleigh stole the show and was such a dream to photograph (along with Marc’s huge smile and their furbaby in a bowtie!) They threw a big bash later that evening and celebrated with a seated dinner, lawn games, dancing, and a grilled cheese truck!

I absolutely love when couples do their own thing in their own way and throw tradition to the wind! Ash and Marc make an elopement seem pretty dang appealing- just the two of you, a beautiful day spent together and a candlelit dinner overlooking the coast in Santorini (not to mention some breathtaking photos by Anna Roussos!)

I can’t believe it took me this long to share this incredibly stunning day with the world! My jam-packed wedding season is quickly drawing to a close, and I’m so pumped to finally have a bit of time to spare to get as many of these wonderful 2016 weddings as I can up and out there!

Featured: Reverie Gallery – Charleston Bridal Session

I’ve waited so patiently to share this beautiful Charleston bridal session, and now I finally can because it’s featured over on Reverie Gallery!

I was in Charleston for a gathering of TuesdaysTogether leaders (read more about my involvement with that here!) and a group of us came together from all over to collaborate on this shoot while we were all in town (From Toronto to Portland, Charleston to Oxford, Mississippi!)

Emily from Confête Events planned and styled the whole affair beautifully. In her area in Mississippi, almost all of her weddings are cocktail style without a sit-down dinner, so she finds herself often designing cute sweetheart tables for the bride and groom, instead of larger, sit-down reception style tablescapes- so that’s what we decided to focus on for this shoot! Joni from Mint and Mirth (custom cocktails for events!) created some beautiful drinks to go along with the cocktail theme and incorporated some great punches of color. Hattitude Jewels brought along some amazing upcycled vintage jewels to finish the look!

Cambium Farms Caledon Wedding: Jenna + Eric

Jenna and Eric’s Cambium Farms wedding on Canada Day was a day that was near and dear to my heart- I have known these two for quite a few years now, and was so happy to be the one they chose to document their stunning day. I have to start off by giving Jenna some huge props- this girl taught herself how to do beautiful calligraphy and signage, and then successfully tackled taking care of her own name cards, welcome signs, reserved seat signs, etc etc! There were so many special details that were thought of, so it was so fun to capture them all. They even had personalized beer cans as a take home gift (with our engagement photos on them!) I’m just sad I forgot to grab one as a souvenir!

Jenna and Eric had an intimate First Look, and it worked out to be incredibly useful for our timeline. The weather on Canada Day was not exactly ideal (although I’m sure you can’t tell in the photos!) We battled off and on rain, plus some incredibly high winds, so when the sky grew dark just minutes from the ceremony start time, we knew we’d be totally fine to wait a few minutes until it cleared so we could have the outdoor ceremony they’d dreamed of, without having to worry about portrait time being delayed afterwards! Jenna and Eric then got to enjoy their entire cocktail hour with their guests! After dinner in the barn, the party really got started in the tent and I felt like I had to include some of these hilarious dance floor shots!

Guelph Farm Wedding: Christine + Dean

Christine and Dean pulled together the most incredible tent wedding on Dean’s Dad’s farm in Guelph, Ontario. Rustic hand tied florals, garlands on harvest tables, a ceremony on the lawn under some beautiful trees, I could go on! But more importantly- they surrounded themselves with their nearest and dearest (and a bridal party that was ready to party!) and had a beautiful day to kickstart their marriage. Their cute as heck chocolate lab pup walked with Dean down the aisle, and the sweetest post-ceremony moment I’ve ever witnessed happened as soon as Christine and Dean were on their own for the first time as husband and wife (scroll down to see what I’m talking about!)

I love days like this- blistering heat, cold beers and lots and lots of love and laughter.

I love doing a First Look with the bride’s side! It gives us a few quiet moments while the bride gets ready, and then their reaction to seeing her all ready and dressed for the first time is so worth it!

The last few moments before heading down the aisle, Christine’s ladies helping her get prepped!

Moments after their ceremony, the importance of the day and all of the emotions caught up with Dean. Super sweet moment between the newlyweds!

Christine and Dean are ’87ers so Creemore was the perfect celebratory drink!

Blush and Navy Hamilton Wedding – Katelyn + Phil

Katelyn and Philip’s Hamilton wedding last weekend was a pleasure to witness- everyone agreed in their speeches that their love is so pure, so true and meant to be, that you just can’t help but smile and know that on May 21st, they made the best choice ever!

Even though Katelyn initially spent their first date thinking Phil’s name was actually Stan, they got over the misunderstanding, laughed it off, and have been side by side ever since. Their love bloomed ‘across the pond’ and they have since made the move back to Canada, where Philip can now enjoy all of the Tim Horton’s we have to offer.

Cambridge Mill Wedding – Jennie + Adam

So the first wedding of the year is in the books! This Cambridge Mill wedding was a great way to kick off 2016, and has subsequently set the bar quite high for the rest of 2016! First of all, it looked wintry with a bit of ice and snow, but it was am amazing 6 degrees outside! Thank you January! This meant that Jennie and Adam could have the pretty wintry look without freezing our buns off, plus we got to do our First Look and the rest of the portraits outdoors. Mill Race Park is a popular spot to go for your bridal portraits when your wedding is at the Cambridge Mill, since it is a quick walk across the street and it features a lot of beautiful old stone work, just as the Mill does. However, since the ‘off season’ months do not require a permit to use the space, we found ourselves in a bit of a turf war with another wedding party! So after a couple of broken bones and a smashed camera….just kidding- we ended up taking turns for first looks and then shared the spot for our bridal party photos! A stunning candlelit ceremony led by Adam’s kindergarten teacher (right?! So cool) was followed by cocktails and apps, which was attended fully by our bride and groom and their bridal party (since stellar planning had all of their photos completed pre-ceremony! Not that I’m biased towards first looks or anything…) The Gallery Room was the perfect backdrop for dinner and dancing, to which Jennie and Adam entered to the song Hula Hoop, while hula hooping!

These two are just so sweet and are such a great match for each other (plus Jennie is basically the most beautiful bride to ever exist). They spend a lot of time cottaging and fishing, and Jennie has even been dubbed the ‘fish whisperer’- but Adam was totally on the money when he mentioned during his speech to his new wife that he had made the biggest catch of all- he caught the fish whisperer. I love that!

Year in Review: 2015 Wedding Photos

I spent some time today going through all of my favourite 2015 wedding photos and it’s been SO hard to choose just one or two from each day! I had 26 amazing couples this year, and I wish I could’ve shared 10 from each wedding day! I shot weddings all the way from Owen Sound to the Dominican Republic and I’m so grateful for each one.
Christmas has come and gone but I’m still in holiday mode! Staying cozy, watching Netflix with Nick, and ‘thinking about’ heading back to the gym are the plan for this week, with some low key New Years eve celebrations. On New Years Eve I’ll be opening my ‘2015: Jar of Wonderful Things’ and reflecting on all of the big goals and accomplishments from this past year. I’ll also be posting some behind the scenes photos from this year, so stay tuned!

I kicked off the year at Hockley Valley with Jenn and Greg- who are now expecting! Couldn’t be happier for these two!

Such a fun couple to hang out with and I loved their non-traditional cocktail style wedding at Twist Art Gallery!

Dan brought some of his British flair to his and Sarah’s big day- love this carefree shot!

I can’t get enough of cherry blossoms! I always try taking advantage of these for the short time they are out.

I photographed this very tiny and intimate ceremony for Nikita and Jarrel on my birthday and I wouldn’t have had it any other way! They flew down to the Domican the next day to celebrate with a big group of family and friends!

Katrina and Aron’s rustic glam wedding was just so beautiful and they were all smiles, all day!

We did a church ceremony on Friday and a beautiful backyard reception, and then the next morning…

We all flew to the Dominican to have a week long celebration!

Laura was my rocker bride and I loved her incredibly laid back and trusting nature. Her Mom officiated the ceremony and the two of them danced down the aisle together!

Even though I chose some black and whites to showcase here, this was the most colourful wedding of the year! KJ and Co did a stellar job bringing Linda and Rory’s vision to life and Blush and Bloom nailed it with their florals.

My laid back and relaxed couple, who had one of the most touching ceremonies all year. Strolling around the Royal Botanical Gardens with this group after the ceremony was a blast! I love how they are such a great group of friends.

We couldn’t have been any luckier with the timing of the rain on this day! Just enough time to get lots of pre-ceremony photos with Karen and her family, and then it completely downpoured. But it stopped raining just in time for our portrait session!

My neighbours (practically!) We live so close to each other that I get to hand deliver every piece of mail or prints that I have for them, and it’s a nice way to pop by and say hello!

Jess and I joke that we are kindred spirits and also pen pals…what a couple of sweethearts! Such a stunning Old Mill wedding.

Oh what a day- this DIY wedding was executed flawlessly and these two had one of the cutest first looks EVER! Plus…Caitlin’s dimples are basically the cutest thing I’ve ever seen.

My last wedding of 2015…and even though it was wet and rainy, we were prepared with a plan and some umbrellas and I loved this wrap up to my season!
